As we reflect on 2024, we’re proud to share the meaningful impact the BRAIV Foundation has made in supporting individuals affected by brain cancer and veterans with traumatic brain injuries. Through the generous support of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers, we’ve continued to advance our mission of helping people through research funding and direct assistance programs.
Key Accomplishments
Launch of the Kristi Bishop Travel Grant Program
We’re excited to announce the establishment of the Kristi Bishop Travel Grant Program in partnership with the University of Minnesota Brain Cancer Foundation. Through this initiative, we provided $2,500 in travel assistance via gift cards to help patients access vital medical care. This program addresses a critical need by reducing transportation barriers for brain cancer patients receiving treatment.
Eagles Healing Nest Partnership
We’ve formed a meaningful partnership with Eagles Healing Nest, a veteran support facility that currently houses 80 residents and has the capacity to serve up to 150 veterans. We’ve committed $5,000 to support their mission and are working closely with their team to identify specific needs, from room renovations to recreational equipment that will enhance the quality of life for resident veterans.
Research Support
We continued our commitment to advancing brain cancer research through a $10,000 contribution to the University of Minnesota’s innovative K9 brain cancer research program. This unique approach studies brain cancer in canines to develop treatments that may benefit both animals and humans.
Community Engagement
Our “Go Grey in May” t-shirt campaign during Brain Cancer Awareness Month brought together supporters from across the community. The campaign not only raised awareness but also demonstrated the power of our community coming together for a common cause.
Wings and Wheels Event
We participated in the Wings and Wheels event, strengthening our connection to the aviation community and raising awareness about our mission. This event highlighted our foundation’s unique origins in the aviation industry and our commitment to serving both the brain cancer and veteran communities.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As we move into 2025, we’re excited to announce several initiatives:
- Expanding our partnership with Eagles Healing Nest through quarterly visits and targeted support projects
- Hosting and participating in fundraising events throughout the year
- Continuing to grow our travel assistance program for brain cancer patients
- Strengthening our community engagement through enhanced events and outreach
